By the way, "backyard" as a single word is an adjective, as in "backyard barbecue". If you are talking about the yard at the back of a house, it is two words: back yard.
If the entire back yard is to be taken up by the pool and the walkways, then the problem can be solved. But you didn't say that was the case....
