A ball is dropped from a cliff that is 416 feet high.
The distance S (in feet) that it falls in t seconds is given by the formula Sequals16tsquared.
How many seconds (to tenths) will it take for the ball to hit the ground?
:
s = -16t^2 + 416 is the equation
When the ball hits the ground s = 0
-16t^2 + 416 = 0
-16t^2 = -416
divide both sides by -16
t^2 = 26
t =
t = 5.1 sec
