Question 1103668: Hey there!
I have a few question, and it said not to dump everything on here. Sadly my book doesn't explain problems like these so I don't know why they give us it. Anyways it's:
Sandy's closet was supposed to be 10 feet by 12 feet. The architect decided that this would not work and reduced the dimensions by the same amount of x on each side. The area of this new closet is 63 feet.
1. Write a quadratic equation that represents the area of Sandy's closet now.
2. Find the new dimensions of her closet.
Not even sure where to start with this..
For the first one came up with something like x2-12x-10x+120=0 but that doesn't seem right
Thanks!
