sorry marie, but your workinf is absolutely wrong...very badly wrong, in fact.

We have which becomes when we multiply BOTH SIDES by 4, to remove the fraction.

Now, we expand the brackets, to see what terms we have, written out fully:

This is a quadratic equation that needs to be solved. Always try to factorise it first, as this is the simplest method to solve the equation. However, looking at the equation, it does not factorise easily, so you will have to resort to the second method... using the quadratic formula.
