In order for there to be two solutions, the discriminant b^2 - 4ac has to be greater than 0.
So we have (-3)^2 - 4(1)(-n) > 0
9 > -4n
-9/4 < n
n > -9/4
So n must be greater than -9/4

Find the values of n when x^2 - 3x - n = 0 has two solutions.
----------
All quadratics have 2 solutions --> n is any real number.
--------
Disc = b^2 - 4ac
---
Disc > 0 --> 2 distinct real solutions
Disc = 0 --> 2 equal real solutions.
Disc < 0 --> 2 complex solutions.
========================
All cubics have 3 solutions.
All quartics (4th power) have 4 solutions.
