2/X+5/(2X)=1 NOW COMBINE THE LEFT SIDE FRACTIONS
(2*2X+5*X)/2X*X=1
(4X+5X)/2X^2=1 NOW CROSS MULTIPLY
2X^2=4X+5X
2X^2-9X=0
X(2X-9)=0
2X=9
X=9/2
X=4.5 ANSWER.
PROOF
2/4.5+5/2*4.5=1
4/9+5/9=1
9/9=1
1=1
OR IF YOU MENT: 2/X+(5/2)X=1 THEN:
2/X+2.5X=1
(2+2.5X*X)/X=1
(2+2.5X^2)/X=1 NOW CROSS MULTIPLY
2+2.5X^2=X
2.5X^2-X+2=0
USING THE QUADRATIC EQUATION
WE GET:
X=(1+-SQRT[-1^2-4*2.5*2])/2*2.5
X=(1+-SQRT[1-20])/5
X=(1+-SQRT-19)/5
X=(1+-4.36i)/5
X=(1+4.36i)/5
X=1/5+.872i
X=.2+.872i ANSWER.
X=(1-4.36i)/5
X=.2-.872i ANSWER.
