(30-2x)(40-2x)=704
4x^2-140x+1200=704
4x^2-140x+496=0
(x-4)(x-31)
x=4 or x=31

if you are assuming that the border around the picture is the same size, then you are correct.
you got x = 4 or x = 31.
x can't be 31 because the length and the width would be negative, which is not possible.
therefore, x = 4 is the only possible solution.
