Question 10202: CAN SOMEONE GET ME STARTED HERE? I NEED TO SOLVE BY THE QUADRATIC FORMULA
1/12 + 3/x = 2/x + 1
Answer by Earlsdon(6294) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The first step is to get this equation, if it really is a quadratic equation, into the standard quadratic form:
Add the fractions on the left side and on the right side.
Multiply both sides by (12x)
Simplify.
Subtract x from both sides.
Subtract 24 from both sides.
Since there is no x^2 term, you don't have a quadratic equation.
