Question 100878: Hello, thank you for taking the time to reply to my email. I am currently enrolled in a precalculus class and I had a question. The quadratic equation is Ax^2+Bx+C=0, but how do you use the quadratic formula if C is 0. I was told to eliminate it, since the number in the square root sign then just becomes B^2. Can you please explain why you can eliminate C? ( use an example please)
Answer by scott8148(6628) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
if C is eliminated (or 0), then the equation becomes Ax^2+Bx=0
factoring gives (x)(Ax+B)=0 ... so x=0 and x=-B/A
C is not involved in the solution
