Question 355610: I am having trouble getting the correct answer to this problem. The problem is
1/x+3 = -2x/x+5
This is how I worked it. The answer is -5/2, -1 but I keep getting -5/6
x+3(-2x) = x+5(1)
x-6x = x+5
-6x = 5
divide through by -6 and get -5/6.
What am I missing?

Question 355621: This is a word problem. I tried to use the formula for inverse variation, y=k/x but I am still not getting the correct answer and I think it is because I do not know how to plug the #s in correctly.
Question: The length of time that a given # of bushels of corn will last when feeding cattle varies inversely with the # of animals. If x bushels will feed 25 cows for 10 days, how long will the feed last for 10 cows?
I know the answer is 25 days, I just do not know how to get it.

Question 355812: I do not see how you can possibly get a numeral from this question. The answer id 12 but I have no clue how to get it.
"The volume of a rectangular solid varies jointly with its length, width and height. If the length is doubled, the width is tripled and the height is doubled, by what factor is the volume multiplied?"

Question 355810: I cannot figure out how to get the answer to this question.
Under constant temperature, the volume occupied by a gas is inversely proportional to the pressure applied. If the gas occupies a volume of 20 cubic inches under pressure of 6 lbs per square inch, find the volume when the gas is subjected to a pressure of 10 lbs per square inch.
If you could please work this out for me to show how to get the answer I would apprecicate it.
