Question 995222: If your mechanic suggests 3 parts antifreeze to 4 parts water, and if your radiator is 14 liters, how many liters of antifreeze should you use?

The easy way is to realize that when there are 3 parts to 4 parts, there are 7 parts total. Since the radiator holds 14 liters, we double 3 to 4 and get 6 liters antifreeze to 8 liters water. Thus the answer is six liters.
