Question 840693: Here's the question I am having difficulty with. Can you please help?
A cruise liner moves 6 inches for every gallon of fuel that it burns. How many gallons of fuel will it burn if it travels 100 miles?

Answer by josmiceli(19441)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Convert mi to inches
The conversion in terms of units is:
( 100 mi ) x ( 5280 ft/mi ) x ( 12 in/ft ) = inches
inches
----------------------------------
and in terms of units:
( 1/6 gal/in ) x ( 6336000 in ) = gallons

It burns 1,056,000 gallons of fuel in 100 miles
