If you're trying to figure out if they are equal then represent the ratios as fractions:
5%2F2=8%2F10
Now multiply both sides by (2*10) (this is like cross-multiplication)
%2820%29%285%2F2%29=20%288%2F10%29
50=16
We can see that they are not equal. So the equation of the ratios 5:2=8:10 is false
