When solving proportions the first step is usually to cross multiply.
%28b-3%29%2F5+=+2%2Fb
b%28b-3%29+=+2%285%29
b%5E2-3b+=+10
b%5E2-3b-10=0 Now we have a quadratic equation which we can factor
%28b-5%29%28b%2B2%29=0
Setting both binomials equal to zero we get that b = 5 or -2.
