.5X=8.75*25
.5X=218.75
X=218.75/.5
X=437.5 MILES.

8 and 3/4 = 32/4 + 3/4

8 and 3/4 = 35/4

1 inch = 2*25 miles

1 inch = 50 miles

35/4 inches = (35/4)*50 miles

35/4 inches = (35*50)/4 miles

35/4 inches = 1750/4 miles

35/4 inches = (874 + 1)/2 miles

35/4 inches = 874/2 + 1/2 miles

35/4 inches = 437 + 1/2 miles
