Question 70413: Suppose that you roll two number cubes.Use a tree diagram to find the probability of the event.
S I think that if you roll two dice then it will be a one then a two so from the one you have to put six tree branches then from the two you have to put six tree branches to.so eventually you count them all up and it comes to 12.so I just get really confused on how to make a probability like a fraction.Because I know that you have to do somthing with favarable outcomes. Please and thank you.
PROBABILITY

Draw the probability tree for one dice first. There are 6 possible numbers which can come up so your tree will have 6 branches. That dice is now finished with. Now for each of the branches you have look at the possible outcomes with the second dice. It can also have 6 possible numbers so add a new brach to each of the six branches you already have. This will give six possible outcomes on each of the six branches you already have for a total of 36 possible outcomes.
To find the probability of a 2 and a 3 see how many branches of the tree will give this combination. There should be 2 ways this can happen (first dice 2 and second dice 3 OR first dice 3 and second dice 2). Counting up the total number of branches gave 36 so 2 out of 36 possible outcomes give a 2 and a 3. The probability will therefore be which simplifies to .
