Question 67903: Looking for help on solving proportion problem (6th grade math) 1.2/9 = c/1.5 . How do you solve this when you have mixed number? Another example we WERE able to solve is 3/4 = 12/b by cross cancelling (i.e., 4x12=3xb, 48=3b, 48/3=3b/3, 16=b. We just cannot figure out how to do this with a numerator that is a decimal???

Looking for help on solving proportion problem (6th grade math) 1.2/9 = c/1.5
cross multiply to get:
9c=1.2*1.5
9c=1.8
c=0.2
