Note: -2x%2B-8x=-48 is the same as -2x-8x=-48


-2x-8x=-48 Start with the given equation.


-10x=-48 Combine like terms on the left side.


x=%28-48%29%2F%28-10%29 Divide both sides by -10 to isolate x.


x=24%2F5 Reduce.


Now that we know the value of x, plug it into %281%2F2%29x to get %281%2F2%29x=%281%2F2%29%2824%2F5%29=%281%2A24%29%2F%282%2A5%29=24%2F10=12%2F5


So %281%2F2%29x=12%2F5 if -2x-8x=-48 (ie x=24%2F5)

-10x = -48
x = 4.8
