Question 347328: Train A is traveling at 40mph, and train B at 50mph. If they are on a parallel track, and A passes the station at 1:20, and B passes same station at 1:32, what time will be catch up to train A?
Answer by scott8148(6628) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
at 1:32 the B train is 12 min (1/5 hr) behind the A train
the A train is traveling 40 mph , so it is 8 mi (1/5 * 40) ahead
the B train is closing at 10 mph (50 - 40) , and must close the 8 mi gap
this takes 8/10 hr
