Question 235551: I have a question about scale drawsing and models. I am in 8th grade math. I know 1 inch equals 3 feet. I am trying to find the scale of a drawing that is 28 feet wide. On the drawing the apartment is 7 inches wide. I want to know how to create an equation to figure this out and other problems like this. Thanks!

If I understood your question correctly, you have a real-life apartment that is 28 feet wide and a scale drawing of it that is 7 inches wide.

If you divide 7 inches by 7, you get 1 inch. If you divide 28 feet by 7 you get 4 feet. So your scale is then 1 inch = 4 feet.

Divide the inches/cm or whatever by whatever is necessary to make 1. Then divide the number of feet, meters, or whatever by that same number.

That means that if another dimension of the drawing is, say, 8 inches, then the real thing should measure 8 times 4 = 32 feet.
