The asnwer would be b, assuming the second term is (-8), not (-89).
You add the amount stored to x and subtract any that were eaten to give you how many are left.
Just like if you had 5 sandwhiches, made 3 more, and had 6 eaten. 5+3-6=2 sandwhiches left.
