Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a/(a + 1) = (a + 3)/a
Cross-multiply to get:
a^2 = (a+1)(a+3)
a^2 = a^2+4a+3
4a+3 = 0
a = -3/4
