It would look like this: . I got 1 on the top of the second fraction because the scale on a map is the number of miles that 1 inch represents. To solve the proportion, cross multiply and divide, so you will do 1 x 56.25 = 56.25; then divide that by 2.25 to get 3. The scale is 1 in = 3 miles.
