Question 12766: Write an equation and solve the following: Four times a number decreased by twice the number is 100. What is the number ?
Answer by elizabeth2005(20) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the equation would be 4n-2n=100
now you have to subtract 4n-2n which leaves you with 2n
now you have to divide both sides by 2
so 2n divided by 2 cancells out and leaves you with n
now you have 100 divided by 2 which will be 50
n=50
also you can check your work
try it....
4 times 50 is 200
2 times 50 is 100
200 minus 100 is 100
hope that helps you to understand
