The local movie theater sold 100 tickets for $390. If children's tickets cost $3 and adult tickets cost $6, how many of each were sold?
6a+3(100-a)=390
6a+300-3a=390
3a+300=390
subtract 300 from both sides
3a=90
divide 3 from both sides
a=30
c=70
PROOF:70*3=$210
30*6=$180
$210+$180=$390
