One gallon of paint costs $12 and covers 350 square feet of area.
1/2 gallon of paint costs $8 and covers 175 square feet of area.
If each wall requires 2 coats of paint, what is the minimum cost of painting the four walls of Max's room?

2(30 x 8) = 480

Total : 720 this is the total square footage Max is going to paint. Since he will require 2 coats, Max will double this:
1st coat: 720 squre feet
2nd coat: 720 square feet

Total : 1,440 square feet

1,440/350 = 4.11 so this is 4 full gallons.(4 x 350 = 1,400) and he has another 40 square feet to go. For this Max doesn't need a full gallon, he can buy a 1/2 gallon:
