multiply everything by 12 to clear fractions
36x^2-10x=24x^2+9
12x^2-10x-9=0
x=(1/24)(10+/-sqrt(100+432); sqrt 532=23.07
x=(1/24)(33.07), or 1.38 and x=(1/24)(-13.07)=-0.5446
