Question 1057518: Jeff bought a 15 foot piece of rope for a project. He cut two sections. ONe was 3.6 feet and the other was 2.8 feet in length. Write the amount remaining as a fraction in simplest form.
So what I did was subtract 3.8 and 2.8 from 15 and got 8.6
( 15-3.8-2.8=8.6) but I don't know how to turn it into a fraction?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
15 feet length cut into 3.6 feet, 2.8 feet and unknown x feet.
3.6%2B2.8%2Bx=15

Solve for x.

The fraction of 15 which is x is
x%2F15

You will have a decimal number divided by 15. Place Value meaning??!!!

x=15-3.6-2.8
x=15-6.4
x=8.6

Your fraction, 8.6%2F15;
again, PLACE VALUE meaning?
Or maybe highlight%2886%2F150%29 and REDUCE THIS.

This is in its reduced form already.
