Question 1034258: The admission fee to a meuseum is $8.50 per person. Given that the admission fee, c dollars, is directly proportional to the number of people, n, identify the constant of proportionality and write a direct proportion equation.
I've tried and tried and don't know please thank you very much.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let the constant of proportionality = +k+
I'll write the equation as:
+c+=+k%2An+
-------------
Looking at +c%2Fn+, let +n+=+1+
then you are given that +c%2F1+=+8.5+
Since +k+=+c%2Fn+, +k+=+8.5+
-------------
The equation is:
+c+=+8.5n+
----------------
The problem is strangely worded. It says:
" the admission fee, c dollars, is directly proportional to the number of people, n "
+c+ can't be the admission fee per person. It has to
be the TOTAL of admission fees received. Then it will be
proportional to +n+
IMHO FWIW
