I did the problem but I still dont really get how to do this that much and I dont know if this is right either.
y = x2+6x+8 a=1 b=6
x= b = 6 = -6 = -3

= 9-18+8

Question 192322: Hello, I have an algebra test on Wednesday and I have no idea of how to go about doing it. Here is a little idea of the type of questions that may be on the test.
Paula has money hidden in a box underneath her dresser. Her friend Jessica wants to know how much is in the "mystery box", so Paula tells her this riddle: The sum of two numbers is 172. The first is eight more than four times the second. If you can find the first number you will know the amount of money in the box.

Find the length of each side of the triangle if the perimeter is 26.

Question 192942: I got this question on a test and i missed it
its about locus of points...
ther are 4 of them and i dont understand them at all!!
draw a sketch and write the equation for each locus
but i think i only really need the equation
the first says
locus of points equidistant from y= x+4 and passing through y=1 and y=7
2.
locus of points equidistant from (3,4) and (3,-2)
3.
locus points 5 units from origin
4.
locus of points 3 units from origin
and then there are 2 more from a different test.
83.
locus of points 4 units away from x= -2
84.
locus of point equidistant from y= -x+2 passing through y=4 and y=0.
if someone could help me i would be so thankful. homeschool and move alot so its hard for me to get help on my work. this site is a life saver!!

Solve these systems of simultaneous equations using either the substitution method or the addition methed.. check your work and supply a solution... #1. x+2y=15 and x-2y=-9 #2. x-y=0 and 7x-3y=24 #3. 3x-8y=10 and x-4y=3 #4. 2x+3y=-5 and 3x-y=20.. please help.. the problems are separated by the number sign(#) when it has xxxxx and xxxxx it is with the same problem.. hope that makes sense and hope you can help me.. thanks
