Question 5192: As treasurer, Anthony decided to invest $600 collectd in club dues. Part was invested in 3% account for immediate access with the rest in a long term 7 1/4% account. If the interest for 1 year was $26.50, how much was invested at 7 1/4%
O.K. I am stuck again - here is my best effort
0.03x + 0.0725(600-x)= 26.50
.003x + 43.50 - 0.0725= 26.50
0.0425x=17.00
x=400
This is not the answer my book has. Please tell me what I did wrong and what answer you get.

Question 5309: A chemist has 20 liters of a solution which is 35% salt. How much water must be added to make the solution 28% salt.
My calculations are not given me the answer that my book has. Please help me.
.35(20x) = .28(20+x)
7.0x=5.6+.28x
-.28x=5.6
6.72x=5.6
x=1.2 or 5
Am I correct?

Question 5130: My question is 2 parts i solved the first part easy but the wecond part is got me stuck
The growth of a population of bacteria can be bodelled using the function P=2xe^-x where x is measured in hours and p is in millions
a) find the maximum population and when it occurs - i got 735,758 after 1 hour i think this is right
b) verify your value by finding the derivative and evaluating the maximum value - im not too sure how to do this and i cant figure out the derivative
