Question 990995: The force of attraction, F of a body varies directly as its mass m and inversely as the square of the distance d from the body. When m = 8 kilograms and d = 5 meters, F = 100 Newtons. Find F when m = 2 kilograms and d = 15 meters.

Hi there,
F = km/d^2
Find 'k' the factor of variation.
F = km/d^2
100 = k8/25
k = 100 x 25/8
k = 312.5
Formula:
F = 312.5 m/d^2
F = 312.5 x 2/15^2
F = 312.5 x 2/225
F = 2.78
Hope this helps :-)
