How far did he drive? miles
What was his displacement (how far did he end up from where he started)? Well we went 18 miles one way, en back tracked those 18 plus another 12. So he ended up 12 miles west of where he started
Speed? Speed = distance/time = 48/1.5 = 32 miles and hour
velocity? He e3nded up 12 miles west in 1.5 hours. so 12/1.5 = west at 8mph
