Question 941577: A plane dropped a bomb at an elevation of 1000 meters from the ground intended to hit the target at an elevation of 200 meters from the ground. if the plane was flying at a velocity of 300 km/hr, at what distance from the target must the bomb be dropped to it the target?

To find time given distance and acceleration:
To find the time it will take bomb to fall to target:
distance (d) is 800 m (altitude of drop-altitude of target) and acceleration is gravity (a=9.8 m/s^2)
t=12.8 sec
At 300 km/hr, the plane is traveling at (300km/hr)(1 hr/3600 sec)=0.833 km/sec
(0.833 km/sec)(12.8 sec)= 1.05 km
The bomb must be dropped 1.05 km from the target
