The following scores were recorded on a 100-point examination:
91, 85, 76, 86, 96, 51, 68, 92, 85, 72, 66, 88, 93, 82, 84
(a) Find the mean final examination score.
add the scores and divide by 15 to get the mean = 81.4
(b) Find the median final examination score= 85
(c) Is the mean or median a more useful representative of the final examination scores?
Median tells you 50% of the scores were above 85.
The score of 51 dragged down the mean score for the set of scores.
