3x + x = 6
4x = 6
x = 6/4 0r 1 1/2 hr

1/a+1/b=1/x
1/2+1/6=1/x
1/2+1/6=1/1.5
1/x=1/1.5
x=1.5 hours working together
check
1/a+1/b=1/x
1/2+1/6=1/x
