Question 792234: How do you change a problem in vertex form to standard form?
Answer by waynest(281) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
example:
y = (x + 3)^2 - 1
y = (x + 3)(x + 3) -1
y = x^2 + 3x + 3x + 9 -1
y = x^2 + 6x + 8
y - x^2 - 6x = 8
-1(y - x^2 - 6x) = -1(8)
x^2 + 6x - y = -8
