Question 790734: The thighbone or femur is the largest bone in the body. About 1/4 of a person`s height is the length of a femur. If a person`s femur measures 19.75 inches, about how many feet tall is the person?
Answer by shosta(4) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
you can set this up as a ratio
since the bone length is given we then have
we can then cross multiply and you get
so 79 in = total height
but the question asks for feet
and there are 12 in in every foot
so we use notice here that the inches units cancel out and we are left with feet
