On a table there are 20 coins, some quarters and some dimes. There value is $3.05. How many if each coin are there?
---------
Quantity Equation: d + q = 20 coins
Value Equation:: 10d+25q = 305 cents
----------------------------------------
Modify for elimination::
2d + 2q = 40
2d + 5q = 61
--------------
Subtract and solve for "q":
3q = 21
q = 7 (# of quarters)
-----
d = 20-7 = 13 (# of dimes)
