Question 774032: Which one of the numbers does not belong in the following series? 9 - 7 -8 - 6 - 7 - 5 - 6 - 3
Answer by Edwin McCravy(20055)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
9 - 7 - 8 - 6 - 7 - 5 - 6 - 3
The odd terms go

9 - 8 - 7 - 6 that follows a pattern.

The even terms go

- 7 - 6 - 5 - 3 that would follow a pattern if the 3 were a 4.

So the sequence should be

9 - 7 - 8 - 6 - 7 - 5 - 6 - 4

So the last term - 3 does not belong, it should be - 4
