Question 759816: Find the equation for the line that passes through the point (3, 5) and that is parallel to the line with the equation (y-1)=-1/3 (×-3)
Answer by Cromlix(4381)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Put into form y = mx + c
(y - 1) = -1/3(x - 3)
y = -1/3x + 1 + 1
y = -1/3x + 2
All lines that are parallel have the same gradient i.e. -1/3
Using y - b = m(x - a)
y - 5 = -1/3(x - 3)
y - 5 = -1/3x + 1
y = -1/3x + 1 + 5
y = -1/3x + 6
Hope this helps.
