Question 753863: Solve each equation
1. |4k-2|=11
2. 23=|n+10|
3. |3c+1| -4=13
4. 4|5-t| =20
Answer by nbdelosreyes(1) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve each equation
1. |4k-2|=11
(a) 4k-2 = + 11
--> 4k = 13
--> k = 13/4
(b) 4k-2 = -11
--> 4k = -9
--> k = -9/4
2. 23=|n+10|
(a) n +10 = + 23
--> n = 13
(b) n +10 = -23
--> n = -33
3. |3c+1| -4=13
(a) (3c + 1) -4 = + 13
--> 3c +1 = 17
--> 3c = 16
--> c = 16/3
(b) (3c + 1) -4 = - 13
--> 3c +1 = -9
--> 3c = -10
--> c = -10/3
BUT, |3(-10/3)+1| - 4 = |-9| - 4 = 5 NOT 13
So the only answer is c = 16/3
4. 4|5-t| =20
(a) 4(5-t) = +20
--> 5-t = 5
--> t = 0
(b) 4(5-t) = -20
--> 5-t = -5
--> t = 10
