What are the measures of the sides ?

Let x = the sides of the square
:
The diagonal is the hypotenuse of the square
:
Using pythag: a^2 + b^2 = c^2
where
a and b both = x, because it is a square
c = 55
so we have
x^2 + x^2 = 55^2
2x^2 = 3025
x^2 = 3025/2
x^2 = 1512.5
x =
x = 38.9 inches is the side of the square
