We are given a^2+6a+3=0
We need to use the quadratic formula
x= (-b plus or minus sqrt(b^2-4ac)) / 2a
substituting
x = (-6 + sqrt(36-4*3))/2 = -.55
x = (-6 - sqrt(36-4*3))/2 = -5.45
