Question 729961: Find a quadratic function f(x) = ax^2 + bx + c having minimum value -9 and zeros 1/2 and -5/2
Answer by josgarithmetic(39792) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You can fill in the standard form of the equation using the given minimum and roots. The vertex is (-1, -9). Your "a" coefficient may still need some work to find. Without yet having done the work myself on this exercise, I'd guess that you could use the roots again to help find "a".
To continue into standard form,, and you know that you have two roots given for when . This expression = 0 for x=1/2 or for x=-5/2, so you use either or both to find p.
