Hal is doing a chemistry experiment that calls for a 30% solution of copper sulfate. Hal has 40mL of a 25% solution. How many milliliters of a 60% solution should Hal add to obtain the required 30% solution?
**
let x=amt of 60% solution to be added
25%*40+60%x=30%(40+x)
.25*40+.6x=12+.3x
10+.6x=12+.3x
.3x=2
3x=20
x=20/3
amt of 60% solution to be added=20/3 ml
