let the width of the rectangle be called x.
since the length is 4 times the width, the length will be 4x.
Now, area = length times width for a rectangle.
so the area of this rectangle, 256 square metres, is 4x times x, that is

dividing by 4 gives

to find x we have to 'undo' the squaring of x by taking the square root.
so
therefore x = 8.
which means that the width is 8m and the length is 32m

And no one else can figure it out either; not without guessing as to what you want anyway. You give area data and a relationship between the length and width of a rectangle, and then ask for "the length and width of the triangle" Triangles don't have a length and width, and I can't tell anything about a triangle given data about a rectangle unless you have established some sort of relationship between your triangle and your rectangle.
