Question 700942: -3x+3y=3
-5x+y=13
Solve by subsitution

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
-3x+3y=3
-5x+y=13
--------------
y = 5x+13
---
Substitute for "y" and solve for "x":
-3x+3y = 3
Divide thru by 3 to get:
-x + y = 1
Substitute:
-x + (5x+13) = 1
4x= -12
x = -3
------
Solve for "y":
y = 5x+13
y = 5*-3+13
y = -2
