Question 698749: (x+2)(x+7)=6
Answer by vidya p(12) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solution:)
( x + 2)( x + 7 ) = 6
=> x^2 + 2x + 7x + 14 = 6
=> x^2 + 11x + 14 - 6 = 0
=> x^2 + 11x + 8 = 0
use the formula :
Solution by SOLVE quadratic equation with variable:
=> x = [ -b +/- sqrt ( b^2 - 4ac ) ] / 2a
x = [ -11 +/- sqrt ( 11^2 - 4(1)(8))] / 2a
x = [ -11 +/1 sqrt ( 121 - 32 ) ] / 2
x = [ -11 + sqrt (89) ] / 2
x = [ -11 + 9.434 ] / 2 or x = [ -11 - 9.434 ] / 2
x = -1.566 / 2 x = [ -20.434 / 2 ]
x = - 0.783 x = - 10.217
