Question 683045: How to find the domain of a function and write it in interval notation?
Hello. I've always had problems with finding the domain of a function. Can you please help me figure this problem out? I'm working a study for a quiz tomorrow but I can't figure this out.

My teacher provided us the answers to the study guide, so I know that the answer is x is greater than or equal to 6. The problem is that I don't know how to get there. I started by factoring the denominator and equaling (I don't think that's a word) it to zero. But after that I'm stuck. Please help me and explain! Thank you.

Answer by ReadingBoosters(3246)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Correct the denominator cannot be 0,
(x-4)(x-1) = 0
x-4=0
x = 4
x-1=0
x = 1
...
But also, there should not be a negative under the square root

...
Since 1 and 4 are less than 6, they don't need a separate mention.
...
The domain is simply all real numbers greater than or equal to 6.
[6, )
